What you will do at Precinct One

Provide day-to-day building monitoring, custodial care and logistical support of Precinct One buildings, offices and facilities at assigned locations according to established schedules. Duties include setup and breakdown of tables, chairs and other equipment for various reservations and program activities; and the cleaning of assigned facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Provide day-to-day custodial care of buildings, offices, and facilities at assigned locations according to established schedules.

* Wash windows, walls, tables, desks, and benches; polish metalwork; clean chalkboards; dust and clean furniture and woodwork; sweep, scrub, mop, and wax floors; vacuum and shampoo carpeted areas.

* Clean and sanitize restrooms; wash sinks, mirrors, and toilets; empty trash receptacles; refill soap, towel and other dispensers.

* Move, set up, and arrange furniture and equipment as requested. Ensure windows, doors, and gates are locked and report incidents of vandalism and theft.

* Communicate with administrators and faculty regarding special custodial needs and security of facilities; maintain routine records related to work performed; request supplies and cleaning materials according to established procedures.

* Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

What you will bring to Precinct One

Education:

* High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent

Experience:

* One (1) year of relevant custodial/logistics experience

Licensure:

* Valid driver's license (Texas upon hire)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* On-call as needed

* Ability to lift and safely move tables and chairs for setup and breakdown of facilities

* Ability to provide general facility logistics support to constituents during reservations

* Knowledge of how to operate and maintain general building equipment

* Knowledge of the methods of modern cleaning, materials, and equipment used in custodial work

About Precinct One

There are four precincts in Harris County. The four elected commissioners, along with an elected county judge, serve as members of the Harris County Commissioners Court, the administrative head of the county's government.

With approximately 1.1 million residents, Harris County Precinct One is a diverse, urban precinct that covers 363 square miles. Precinct One's multi-racial, multi-ethnic population is roughly 39 percent African American, 37 percent Latino, 18 percent Anglo, 5 percent Asian, and 1 percent other.

Precinct One, which includes 876 miles of road, stretches south to Brazoria County and reaches into eastern and northern sections of Harris County. The Precinct's territory includes a large section of Downtown Houston, including the Downtown Harris County Courthouse Complex, Toyota Center, Minute Maid Park, and the BBVA Compass Stadium. Other notable landmarks include the 263-acre NRG Park Complex and the renowned Texas Medical Center. The Precinct is also the higher educational home to Houston Community College, Rice University, Texas Southern University, the University of Houston, and the University of St. Thomas. Precinct One manages more than 20 parks, 11 community centers, numerous hike-and-bike trails, three maintenance service centers, and several area offices, all of which provide an array of services to Precinct One residents.
