Axis Global Logistics, a 3PL Logistics Company is looking for an Aviation Logistics Specialist to work in our Piscataway, NJ office. Under minimal guidance of the Director of operations, the Aviation Logistics Specialist is responsible for coordinating shipments and projects for Axis Global's aviation customer base by offering quality shipping solutions. The Logistics Specialist acts as a liaison between the customer and the company.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
1. Professionally handle incoming requests from customers or third party vendors to move aircraft parts to domestic and international locales on a next flight out basis.
2. Calculate shipping costs on international cargo MAWB's and be familiar with process of creating and filling out MAWB, based on instructions supplied by customer, or last mile delivery agent.
3. Must be familiar with international export requirements from the US and be able to file an SED with AES system.
4. Familiar with import customs laws in to the US, and be able to understand and obtain POA for correct entity to expedite clearance and delivery.
5. Select routing solutions for customer's needs and be able to determine best routing options to international destinations based on service level
6. Read commercial invoices and understand the details contained within (including determining who the USPPI, and FPPI are)
7. Create international shipping documents
8. Pre-alert service partners of special services request via email;
9. Track and monitor all scheduled shipments, including calling or emailing customers with POD's
10. Advise customers of delays on their shipment; including flight delays, flight cancellations, missed connections, etc.
11. Provide quotes for transportation charges to customers on request, able to answer customer questions in regard to billing
12. Escalate service issues to management
13. Able to e-book shipments efficiently, CPS- Descartes, etc
14. Must be familiar with INCO Terms and understand the impact it has on financial responsibilities
15. Understand the regulations surrounding DG shipments and their existence
16. Familiar with oversized freight handling
17. Able to read dimensions provided, and calculate chargeable weight for domestic and international shipments
18. Performs other duties as assigned;
QUALIFICATIONS:
Two or more years in an operations role that includes routing over the counter shipments form the US to foreign destinations, and an overall understanding of the aviation industry. Candidate should possess strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills; Able to navigate TMS system.
