or Thursday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday Must be able to train Monday to Friday 8:00am-5:00pm for up to 3 weeks Provides excellent customer service while performing work as part of a team. Takes direction from the Account Manager to ensure the customer's needs are met by leveraging our processes and technology to drive efficiency. Daily tasks of tracking freight, utilizing discretion and good judgment to troubleshoot and manage issue resolution, securing carriers to cover freight as needed, and general exception management. Excellent operational execution will make a positive impact on our customer's supply chain.
Duties and responsibilities Essential duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
- Builds strong business relationships through quality execution to meet customer specifications and expectations.
- Enters customer load data into the Transportation Management System (TMS). Updates load status in TMS, e.g. loaded, pick-up, delivery, empty, etc.; provide sufficient comments for communication to customer as necessary.
- Schedules and/or reschedules pick-up and/or delivery appointments for all loads. Proactively notifies shipper and/or receiver of changes when necessary.
- Contacts carrier to obtain status of load-tendered; continue monitoring the shipment for proper loading, on-time pick-up, transit, delivered, empty.
- Provides detailed directions and instructions to properly route drivers.
- Collaborates with customer for exception management.
- Corresponds with customer and carrier regarding detention and other accessorial information.
- Leverages processes, procedures, and technology to troubleshoot and resolve problems, including identifying issues, thinking critically to determine the best course of action, implementing solutions, and escalate to appropriate account representative or next level manager.
- Proactively communicates any pertinent information to the appropriate parties electronically and/or verbally. If needed, implement corrective action plan and elevate potential service issues as necessary.
- Secures transportation (matching carriers with customers), determines availability and negotiates transportation rates, and maintains positive customer and carrier relations.
- Investigates product overage, shortage and damage (OS&D), and complete the appropriate documentation (initial steps).
- With guidance, conducts route/load planning and consolidation of customer orders, reconciles established rate levels with available purchased transportation providers, and seeks out new carriers to provide service at competitive rate levels after primary work hours.
- As needed, summarizes in a final report the completion and quality of RWI updates to customer(s) and works with internal RWI team.
- Other duties as required and assigned.
