The Logistics Director will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and optimizing the logistics, supply chain, and inventory processes to support production and delivery goals.
The Logistics Director must have 7+ years of logistics, supply chain, or operations management experience in manufacturing environment
Logistics Director Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field; A master's degree or relevant certification (e.g., CLTD, CSCP) is a plus
- 7+ years of logistics, supply chain, or operations management experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment; startup experience is a strong plus
- In-depth knowledge of supply chain processes, inventory management, and logistics software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar)
- Proven leadership skills with experience building and leading teams in a fast-paced environment
- Strong negotiation and contract management abilities
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and thrive in a startup setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration
Logistics Director Description:
- Develop and execute logistics strategies to support manufacturing, including warehousing, inventory management, transportation, and distribution
- Establish and oversee policies and procedures for logistics operations, ensuring alignment with overall company goals
- Manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and evaluate suppliers to ensure cost-effective, timely, and high-quality materials procurement
- Collaborate with purchasing and production teams to forecast demand, manage lead times, and ensure inventory aligns with production needs
- Design and implement efficient warehouse layouts and inventory management systems, with a focus on reducing waste, minimizing handling time, and optimizing storage
- Oversee inventory control, ensuring accuracy in tracking, stocking levels, and timely availability of materials for production
- Establish relationships with transportation carriers, negotiating rates and managing service agreements
- Develop efficient distribution processes to ensure timely delivery to customers and establish contingency plans for potential disruptions
- Build and lead a logistics team, including hiring, training, and performance management
- Promote a collaborative and safety-first culture, encouraging innovation and continuous improvement within the team
- Monitor and manage the logistics budget, analyzing expenses and identifying areas for cost reduction
- Leverage data analytics to improve process efficiencies and provide recommendations for logistics optimization
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards, including environmental and OSHA guidelines
- Establish safety protocols for logistics operations, including the handling and storage of materials, equipment operation, and emergency response procedures
- Assess and implement logistics software and technologies to streamline operations, track performance metrics, and provide real-time visibility into the supply chain
- Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure seamless integration of logistics technology with company systems
