Job Summary: The Logistics Engineer assists in the development of logistics and supply chain solutions to meet customer goals and expectations in support of the company's policies and group's objectives. This individual ensures develops solutions for existing customers, and ensuring productivity levels are reached in an effective and efficient manner maintains quality performance objectives and assists in cost control programs. Manages staffing and training issues and administers discipline.
Key Accountabilities: Assemble data from varied sources in formats appropriate to the specific analysis. Participate on Project Teams in the design of solutions and preparation of proposals. Research labor, work cell, transportation, and equipment costs. Use network modeling techniques to design and optimize warehouse and transportation solutions. Use spreadsheets, Visio, blueprint software, and world class warehousing techniques to design and optimize solutions. Assist in operation implementations. Assist in customer presentations. Assist in demonstrating logistics tools. Ensures customer's needs are met by scheduling and communicating with Drivers and Managers to match the customer's changing demands Provides strategic input to Director of Operations Change agent to improve operations and reduce customer costs; Directs, organizes, and arranges Lean and other process improvement projects for all areas within the Rail Fueling group. Interprets operating policies, problem-solving Participates in development of budgets, reports, programs, and plans. Daily reviews of customer inventory Conducts training Maintains and enhances relationship with the customer, to ensure an open-line of communication. Promotes the maintenance of a quality system. Conducts meetings, makes presentations. Works with others to achieve goals and directs employees. Ensures CEVA guidelines are followed. Support new hire orientation and training May conduct discipline and corrective action. Handles problem calls. Reviews all error investigation reports for accuracy and completeness. Co-ordinate ad-hoc projects as needed. Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or related field is required. At least five (5) years' experience in Logistics is required, five (5) years preferred. Six-Sigma/Green Belt experience preferred. Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement experience preferred. Experience with Automation is a plus.
Languages and Communication Skills: Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees. Computer Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific software applications.
Other Skills/Experience: Must have excellent project management and team building skills. Demonstrated professionalism and must have a high degree of logic, initiative, self-organization, and creativeness. Demonstrated Financial, Logistics, and Business Developments skills required. Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize in demanding environments with tight deadlines. The required candidate must be highly organized and proficient in Process Engineering. Experience with budgeting. Balance team and individual responsibilities. Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize in demanding environments with tight deadlines.
