What you'll do This position is responsible for the daily execution of all logistics support aspects for a Defence communications system. The Logistics Manager will supervise the movement, distribution and storage of supplies and support materials. This position will be required in the Viasat Australia office location in Canberra. The day-to-day Some key responsibilities of the Logistics Manager are: Lead and direct materials planning and control, procurement, inventory management, storage, warehousing, logistics, transport, and distribution. Monitor and report supply chain performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Maintaining accuracy of inventory and transactional records necessary for reporting of both Contractor and Commonwealth owned spares/RIs. Communicate regularly with leadership regarding problems or issues impacting support objectives. Examine existing procedures or opportunities for streamlining activities to meet customer needs. Liaise with functional and operations area managers to ensure supply activities are integrated with other parts of the support system Coordination of repairable item (RI) movement, including tracking and optimisation. Recording stock item movements. Providing Disposal recommendations. Procuring, receiving, storing, issuing, packaging and shipping of materiel items. Monitoring significant statistics and adapting to change. Stocktaking and Inventory management. What you'll need Bachelors degree in Integrated Supply Chain Management or related field and 2 years of Supply Chain experience, OR Associates degree and 6 years of Supply Chain experience. Experience with or knowledge of materials planning/production scheduling processes. Must have strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills necessary to work in a collaborative team environment. Must be an Australian citizen and have an active Australian Government Security Clearance (NV1) or have held one previously. What will help you on the job Experience in engineering and/or supply logistics. Ability to lead, train and mentor employees on a personal and professional level. Working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. Experience working within Return Material Authorisation (RMA) management teams. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working on Programs in and ASDEFCON Contracting environment. Ability to use self-initiative and be able to work well under pressure. Effective leadership, decision-making, and project management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail. Proven ability to coach and motivate team members.
