What we are looking for: Grammer is looking for a Logistics Operations Engineer to join our team in Delphos, OH. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a team environment. Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The Logistics Operations Engineer will be responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound (international and domestic) freight; perform tracking and follow up of shipments and claims under various modes of shipment (ocean, air, postal, truck, and parcel) and perform related activities as required. A logistics operations engineer manages and coordinates the movements of goods through various transportation methods, ensuring efficient and cost-effective delivery. What you will be doing:
- Develops short and long-term strategy to support customer requirements
- Planning and coordination: organizing the shipment of goods from origin to destination, considering factors like transit times, cost, and legal requirements.
- Documentation: Handling shipping documents, customs paperwork and ensuring all necessary documentation is accurate and complete.
- Transportation management system - support system implementation and roll out.
- Actively search and implementation of new carrier/lanes in cooperation to reduce cost and improve quality and delivery.
- Problem-solving: Addressing and resolving any issues related to shipping delays, damaged goods, or other logistical problems.
- Claim management.
- Tracking and monitoring: monitoring shipments in transit, updating on status, and resolving any issues that arise.
What you will bring along:
- Bachelor Degree - ideally in international business, industrial engineering, supply chain management, or another related field
- A minimum of 1 year in a similar role
- Strong understanding of the carrier business, both domestic and international (especially Ohio and Mississippi)
- Automotive industry experience required
- Ability to support multiple plants when necessary.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed - approximately every couple months, based on business needs.
- Experience with SAP preferred
