DescriptionGeneral Summary: Under general direction, develops purchase orders by reading, understanding and translating material requirements for the machining of complex aerospace components using price and engineering specifications and other technical data. Converts resulting detailed manufactured / purchased requirements in a timely fashion to support customer needs and operational objectives. Interacts with Operations, Purchasing, Engineering, and Material Control. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Create purchase orders using pricing data and engineering specifications and selects the best resources, i.e., vendors based on price, quality and turn times.
- Tracks the progress of semi-finished and finished parts and their delivery status at outside vendors, and maintains overdue and potential overdue status reports on customer orders.
- Alert operations and Materials Manager of critical quality and engineering issues generated by vendors.
- Identify and utilize new vendor resources to capitalize on cost savings were practical.
- Optimize the use of vendor resources related to Splining, Shot peening, and Honing to eliminate unnecessary set-up charges.
- By days end plan and prioritize next day internal resources related to inspection, assembly, deburring, shipping/receiving and accountabilities for split/night shift coverage.
- Create and manage daily routes for drivers and supervise their progress and performance of duties related to deliveries, pick-ups, and protection of parts, vehicle maintenance and quality of work.
- Prioritize inbound materials with production/drivers by carting of materials and moving through inspection
- Utilizing Epicor ERP for Job Creation
- Working with operations and pulling and issuing of hardware to assembly jobs.
- Communicates and accurately assesses the progress of parts with process and machining subcontractors throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts via telephone and/or e-mail.
Position RequirementsRequired Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Working knowledge and proficiency using Microsoft Office products to include Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Proficient with automated Material Resource Planning (MRP) systems.
- Proactive, self-starter, team player and technically competent individual with an ability to perform detailed work.
- Ability to demonstrate effective verbal, written and presentation skills and can work with all levels of employees and customers throughout the organization.
- Efficient organization and project management skills and able to effectively manage multiple assignments.
- Good analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
Education & Experience Required:
- Associates or Bachelor's Degree (preferred) in Business Administration or related degree; or, commensurate work experience. APICS certification is a plus.
- 3+ years of related work experience with a focus on planning, purchasing or phase scheduling.
- Database management experience.
