Logistics Specialist – Air & Ocean Freight (Jamaica, NY)
Altius Talent is partnering with a leading logistics company to find a Logistics Specialist with expertise in air and ocean freight for their office in Jamaica, NY. This role is ideal for a dedicated logistics professional with strong experience in CargoWise, end-to-end import/export operations, and a proven track record of building relationships with steamship lines and airlines. We are seeking someone who has demonstrated stability in their career, with at least 2 years of tenure at their most recent position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of air and ocean freight operations, from A-Z import/export coordination.
- Utilize CargoWise to handle documentation, track shipments, and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Negotiate rates with carriers, steamship lines, and airlines to ensure competitive pricing for clients.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with steamship lines, airlines, and other key stakeholders in the logistics chain.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth and timely deliveries while maximizing cost efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and industry best practices in all aspects of freight forwarding.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in air and ocean freight logistics, with a focus on end-to-end import/export operations.
- Proficiency in CargoWise or similar logistics platforms.
- Strong understanding of rates, contract negotiations, and managing relationships with steamship lines and airlines.
- A proven track record of stability, with a minimum of 2 years tenure at your most recent employer.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
