Logistics Specialist LinkedIn Twitter Email Message Share Category Logistics/Inventory All Locations 600 Benjamin Dr., Springfield, Ohio Position Type Full-Time/Regular Tracking Code 895 GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Logistics Specialist is the primary support for all delivered transportation activities throughout the Dole Fresh Vegetable network during nighttime hours. The Logistics Specialist primarily supports track and trace, customer reporting, and collaboration with suppliers on recovery solutions. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION: * Develop relationships with supplier contacts supporting Dole Fresh Vegetables (DFV) to establish expectations of timely communication and solutions as issues arise. * Track and trace delivered freight through our proprietary Transportation Management System (TMS). * Communicate late delivery exceptions proactively to internal/external customers. * Facilitate and coordinate expediting of loads with suppliers to support customer needs. * Provide daily/weekly performance reports to DFV stakeholders, customer, and suppliers. * Manage OSDs as they arise to gather required documentation while providing direction to suppliers. * Support logistics planners and DFV operations with scheduling of pickup and delivery appointments. * Secure trucking capacity when business needs arise and communicate resolution plans to all key stakeholders. * Collaborate with the logistics team members through hand-offs at the beginning and end of work shifts to prioritize needed items. * Prioritize and meet deadlines on other duties and projects as assigned by Logistics leadership. * All DFV Team Members are required to adhere to all policies, practices, and SOP's related to producing and distributing Safe Quality Food (SQF's). * All DFV Team Members have the responsibility and authority to report any problems pertaining to food safety and quality to leadership. * Other duties as assigned Required Skills JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES: * Minimum of 3 years of experience working within a Supply Chain Operations function. * Transportation or Supplier Management experience is preferred. * Previous employment within a fast-paced, consumer packaged goods or fresh supply chain environment preferred. * Must have demonstrated knowledge of full truckload and less than truckload operations. * Experience managing multi-modal experience is a plus. * Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. * Proven problem solving and resolution skills are required to manage through issues as they arise. * Ability to work under pressure to deliver timelines with a sense of urgency as required * Capable of working independently with minimal direction during night shift hours * Proven track record working within a collaborative, cross-functional team environment * Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint with demonstrated success working with various business systems * Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and/or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems a strong plus. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift (including overhead) and/or up to 15 lbs. WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: * 4 consecutive days on and 4 consecutive days off from 7pm EST to 6am EST. * Work beyond regular business hours and rotational holiday coverage, as needed.
