Summary:The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the logistics department, ensuring the efficient and timely movement of goods, materials, and inventory. This role involves supervising logistics staff, optimizing processes, managing transportation, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The Logistics Supervisor will ensure that logistics activities meet organizational goals and customer expectations.Key Responsibilities:
Team Supervision:- Supervise and manage the daily activities of logistics team members, including drivers, warehouse staff.
- Assign tasks, set priorities, and provide clear instructions to ensure smooth logistics operations.
- Train, mentor, and develop team members to improve their performance and capabilities.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and address any performance or behavioral issues.
- Approve timecards in SAP and PTO & PPT.
Logistics Operations Management:
- Coordinate and oversee the movement of goods, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure the proper storage, handling, and dispatch of goods.
- Ensure efficient transportation planning, including route optimization and fleet management.
- Handle logistics-related documentation, including shipping records, invoices, and inventory logs.
- Resolve any logistics issues or delays promptly and efficiently to maintain service levels.
Process Improvement & Efficiency:
- Continuously assess logistics processes and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency, cost reduction, and overall performance.
- Implement best practices and develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for logistics activities.
- Use logistics software and systems to track shipments, inventory, and performance metrics.
- Monitor and control operational costs related to logistics and transportation.
Health, Safety, and Compliance:
- Ensure all logistics activities are conducted in compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and training logistics staff to maintain a safe working environment.
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents and ensure corrective actions are taken.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Maintain clear communication with other departments such as production, materials, quality, and customer service to ensure logistics operations align with overall business goals.
- Assist with external vendors, carriers, and third-party logistics providers to ensure smooth operations.
Reporting & Documentation:
- Prepare regular reports on logistics performance, including delivery status, inventory levels, and transportation costs.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all logistics operations.
- Report any issues, delays, or incidents to senior management and provide recommendations for improvement.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management (preferably 3-5 years).
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a logistics or warehouse environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of leading and motivating a team.
- Knowledge of logistics software, warehouse management systems (WMS), and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle unexpected issues in a timely manner.
- Understanding safety regulations, inventory control, and transportation management.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CLTD).
- Knowledge of international shipping and customs procedures.
- Knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS) and other logistics software.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position.
- Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required based on business needs.
