- POSITION SUMMARY:
- Under the direction of the Director of Nursing - LTC and in accordance with established policies and procedures, oversees the operation of the nursing units and personally or through subordinates, provides clinical supervision to employees assigned to the various nursing units.
- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plans, directs, coordinates and evaluates the Nursing Department's activities, consistent with the philosophy of nursing in compliance with established policies, procedures, standards and regulations.
- Assures quality resident care through teaching and supervision of staff on respective shifts.
- Communicates with Director of Nursing and/or Nurse Manager regarding identified and potential unit problems and collaborates with Director of Nursing and/or Nurse Managers to resolve problems. Contacts Director of Nursing on off hours for only those critical issues requiring resolution and leaves appropriate communication at work for all other items.
- Makes sound administrative decisions in the absence of the Director of Nursing and the Administrator - LTC (off-shift/weekends) within identified scope of responsibility
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- QUALIFICATIONS:
- EDUCATION:
- Minimum:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Registered Professional Nursing.

- LICENSE:
- Minimum:
- Current New York State Registered Professional Nurse licensure
- PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:
- Minimum:
- BLS required through the RQI system during clinical orientation.
- CPI obtained within 90 days of hire.
- WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum:
- One year of nursing experience.
- Preferred:
- Minimum of one (1) year LTC experience and previous supervisory experience preferred.

- Ability to collaborate effectively with medical staff, department managers, ancillary services and customers in a professional and courteous manner.
- Demonstrated ability to manage self professionally in stressful situations.
- Ability to facilitate clinical management, work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.
- Familiarity with NYSDOH requirements. Demonstrated excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication (written and oral), analytical, and organizational skills.

Salary Range: $40.84-$46.26
