Job Description:

The New Mexico Municipal League/New Mexico Self-Insurers' Fund (NMML/NMSIF) is seeking a full-time Loss Control Coordinator to empower internal and external stakeholders to identify and mitigate hazards in the workplace to reduce losses and protect members and organizational assets. This is accomplished by applying strategic risk management and safety principles to assessments and educating prospective and existing members to ensure policies are correctly rated and serviced.

The New Mexico Self-Insurers' Fund offers Workers' Compensation, general liability, law enforcement, civil rights, errors and omissions, auto liability, auto physical damage, and property and volunteer coverage to municipalities and other public entities.

Job Responsibilities

• Identify, assess, review, and monitor risk management and safety services for the New Mexico Self Insurers' Fund's existing members to reduce exposures, improve workplace safety, and lessen the frequency and severity of claims.

• Conduct risk management and safety assessments as required by policy/statute/regulatory authorities.

• Develop, coordinate, and deliver risk management and safety training/materials to internal and external stakeholders, focusing primarily on multi-policyholder/group needs.

• Network, maintain, and build relationships with insurance agents, regulatory authorities, and industry and professional organizations in order to optimize available resources for members.

• Contribute to programs, plans, objectives, and metrics to achieve substantive change within the organization.

• Maintain expertise in risk management and safety principles/techniques by attending related classes/seminars, and pursue professional designations and continuing education; and

• Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities

• Strong organizational, time management, project management, problem resolution, research, communication, customer service, public speaking, and presentation skills

• Ability to develop clear, concise, and comprehensive reports and deliverable items

• Ability to exercise sound judgment and tact in the application of applying rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in dealing with others in complex, diverse, or sensitive situations

• Demonstrate proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

• Develop practical and written processes for training programs, assessment and evaluation methods, work instructions, and learning objectives

• Satisfy the conditions required to maintain a fully-qualified driving status.

Required Education & Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

Professional/industry certifications preferred: CHSP, CSHO, ASP, ARM, CRM, CSP or related course of study (Insurance/Risk Management/Safety/Construction/Oil & Gas/Engineering)

Minimum three (3) years of experience in a Risk Management/Safety position preferred.

• Employees of New Mexico Self Insurers' Fund adhere to all safety rules and regulations, including building and cyber security.

• Drive a privately-owned motor vehicle to and from meetings, consultation activities, training, and other work assignments.

• Employees ensure safe and efficient operating conditions that safeguard employees and facilities.

• Exposure to Video Display Terminal (VDT) screens.

• Travel required over 30% of the time; and

• Non-office environment may be encountered for offsite presentations and in support of organizational activities.

Compensation

Pay range is $60,000 to $90,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. Compensation includes a comprehensive benefits package, including automatic 10 percent retirement contribution from the employer, and up to an additional 8 percent matching contribution.
