The Loss Control Specialist will support the refinery or refineries assigned, as well as nearby systems that affect inventory control, by providing loss control services, develop and lead improvement projects, and implement company policy and industry standards, resulting in cost-justified accurate measurement results. This position requires strong technical expertise as well as interpersonal, communication, project management, and advanced Excel skills.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Performs in-person and/or data analytic oversight of internal and third-party measurement transactions and/or systems to/from MPC.Gathers data, documents, and/or prepares savings reports and updates dashboard/KPIs. Maintains supporting documents per MPC document retention policy.Identifies Loss Control issues and improvement initiatives at a local level. Works collaboratively with stakeholders to develop and implement innovative solutions as well as action plans to improve Loss Control performance. Directs related reports and recommendations to appropriate personnel.Develops functional knowledge e.g., MPC Loss Control SOP, API, interpret/analyst data, reconcile system balance, MPC operation (e.g., Marine, Pipeline and/or Refinery), software and tools. Monitors and stays up to date with industry, federal, state, or local resources.Supports the development and maintenance of Loss Control standards, processes, procedures, and custody transfer measurement systems; introduces new technologies to help the company minimize product loss.Supports investigations and audits to ensure procedural compliance relative to loss control and measurement standards.
