Position Title: Lower School Administrative Assistant Reports to: Head of Lower School, Head of New Avenues FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt POSITION DESCRIPTION The Lower School is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented person to serve as the Lower School Administrative Assistant. The position reports directly to the Lower School Head. Their primary role is to provide administrative support to the Lower School Head, the Head of the New Avenues Program, students, and the parent community. QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS The ideal candidate will demonstrate reliability, resourcefulness, flexibility, and empathy when working with staff and students while embodying the schools mission and philosophy. The Administrative Assistant focuses on maintaining meaningful connections and community life while welcoming and greeting all visitors, often being the first and last person families see when visiting the building. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES Knowledge and understanding of Lower School and New Avenues activities, established school policies, and the admission process. Handle confidential information which requires discretion and diplomacy. Maintain detailed and orderly records, including but not limited to student enrollment, student attendance, and new family information. Manage calendars and events for the Lower School and New Avenues Program and assist with event organization and collaborate with other Administrative Assistants. Work closely with Walker Parent Organizations. Other clerical duties include typing correspondence, photocopying, mailing, faxing, filing, weekly correspondence, etc. Assist in coordinating teacher and parent events for the Lower School. CORE QUALIFICATIONS Associate's Degree required. Bachelor's Degree is preferred. Excellent verbal, listening, and written communication skills. Proficient in Word/Excel/Google Doc. Demonstrate leadership highlighted by problem-solving and working in collaborative partnerships across all constituent groups.
