Our goal is to design a better world , so we choose to equip students with the knowledge, skills, attributes, and relationships they need to be impact-ready .RoleThe Mount Vernon School is seeking a full-time in-house substitute who can provide teaching coverage for Kindergarten-Grade 5. This role helps students learn subject matter and skills required for scheduled lessons and provides meaningful instruction for assigned classrooms while stepping into other duties that would be required on a day-to-day basis. This full-time hourly position has the opportunity to build relationships and invest in the culture of the School while gaining valuable teaching experience and professional development in a supportive and innovative school environmentResponsibilities
  • Fill in for classes and/or responsibilities throughout a given day, sometimes only known the day of (ex: substitute for a class, participation in duties such as lunch, enrichment, carpool, or front desk, etc.)
  • Assist or teach an assigned class (lightened course load) based on expertise in a content area
  • Ensure policies and procedures are followed in the classroom
  • Be a curious and collaborative educator, dedicated to facilitating and encouraging the growth of students and colleagues
  • Possess strong character with a drive for excellence, a team-oriented spirit, and a commitment to meeting the learning and social-emotional needs of students
  • Demonstrate a high level of competency in multiple Mount Vernon mantras & values
  • Embody and advance the mission, vision, and norms of the School
  • Perform other related duties as directed by Head of Lower School and/or Head of Lower Campus
  • Report directly to the Head of Lower School and work closely with the Lower School Admin Team

Requirements
  • Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's degree in content area of assigned class, Education or related field
  • Classroom experience
  • Proficiency with technological tools and platforms preferred
