Position Summary Assist the physician(s) with theexamination and treatment of patients; perform routine and non-routine tasksnecessary to keep the clinical office running smoothly.Job Responsibilities•Provideroutine and non-routine care and education to patients, assisting Physician andCharge Nurse as needed; accurately document all care provided in patient chart•Triagepatient calls and responds to all requests within 24 hours, notify Physician ofurgent matters and all test results•Performclinic duties in efficient manner to maintain smooth flow of clinic; preparepatient for examination, test(s) or procedure(s); conduct physician orderedprocedures and referrals, schedule outside facility testing and procedures•Workin conjunction with Authorization Specialists to ensure all procedures orderedand performed are pre-authorized for reimbursement•Followall safety guidelines, adheres to universal blood and body fluid precautions; ensurework & clinical areas are kept clean and neat•Representcompany in a positive manner; adhere to Standards of Behavior; foster positive patientservice-oriented working environment & teamwork approach•Respectand maintain patient privacy at all times•Takedirection for daily assignments from physician's RN or Nursing Manager.Qualifications Educationand Experience: High school diploma or equivalent;completion of accredited certified medical assistant or accredited nursingprogram. Maintain valid Certification orLouisiana LPN license. A multi-taskedprofessional with at least 2 years' experience in performing clinicalactivities in a medical environment.Knowledge:Basic medical office procedures andmedical terminology with concentration in cardiology; first aid measures;equipment, supplies and instruments used in a medical office; simple routineinjections; universal blood and body fluid precautions; OSHA rules andregulations; various forms inherent to profession; patient confidentiality/HIPAAregulations.Abilities:Mustbe able to stand for increments of 20 minutes; Must be able to assist in thelifting of patients from a sitting to a standing position or vice versa; mustbe able to bend or stoop for IV initiation; establish and maintain cooperativerelationships with staff members; create a responsive, caring environment forpatients; respond promptly to physicians' directions; maintain medical recordsin a concise and accurate manner; react quickly in emergency situations;recognize and prevent possible safety hazards; ensure proper maintenance ofequipment; communicate clearly and facilitate patient education when warranted;act as advocate and assist physician in meeting the well-being needs of thecardiology patient; exercise good nursing judgment; perform functions thatconsistently fall within the legal boundaries of profession.Note: This description indicates in general termsthe type and level of work performed and responsibilities held by theemployee(s).
