Join our compassionate team on the Chemical Dependency Unit at UPMC Chautauqua, where you'll provide focused patient care and make a meaningful impact during overnight shifts. As a full-time LPN, you'll play a vital role in supporting recovery, utilizing your skills in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Responsibilities:
* Patient Care: Provide focused nursing care and implement plans of care with holistic, patient-centered goals.
* Collaboration: Communicate with RNs and the healthcare team, seeking guidance when care exceeds scope, skill, or when patient conditions change.
* Adherence to Standards: Follow UPMC policies, LPN Practice Guidelines, and State Practice Act, including IV therapy administration.
* Documentation: Ensure comprehensive, clear documentation that promotes communication and continuity of care.
* Education & Support: Provide detailed teaching to patients and families for transitions in care; mentor new LPNs and support staff.
* Quality & Safety: Participate in initiatives to enhance patient safety, quality, and satisfaction, and identify opportunities for workplace improvement.
* Teamwork: Build strong relationships with patients, families, and colleagues to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
* Professional Development: Regularly seek feedback, pursue learning opportunities, and contribute to clinical and organizational programs.
* Cultural Competency: Demonstrate respect for diversity, hold peers accountable for healthy relationships, and balance work-life responsibilities.
* System Competencies: Uphold UPMC system-wide competencies and perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
* Experience: 2 years of LPN experience preferred
* Licensure: Active LPN license in the practicing state or a state covered by a licensure compact agreement.
* Certifications:
* Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification (AHA standards) within 30 days of hire/transfer.
* Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCM) training within 60 days of hire and annually thereafter.
* Patient Care Competency: Demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care and interpret patient needs based on growth and development principles.
* Collaboration: Ability to work effectively within a team, maintaining positive relationships with all levels of staff, patients, and families.
* Adaptability: Perform in complex, fast-paced environments, manage multiple priorities, and operate specialized equipment.
* Physical Requirements: Stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and patient positioning; mobility and manual dexterity required.
* Clearances:
* NYS Fingerprint Check (provisional work allowed for 30 days).
* NYS Staff Exclusion List (NYSEL) and NYS Central Register of Child Abuse (NYSCR).
