Summary:

The Licensed Practical Nurse in the acute care setting provides care to patients and is responsible for performing designated tasks and responsibilities under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The licensed practical nurse provides direct and indirect patient care services requiring technical and manual skills, within the scope of practice, that meet the psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of care, and meets the communication needs of the patient and family.

Responsibilities:

* Provides direct patient care within the LPN scope of practice and the established model of nursing

* Documents within the EMR. Includes vital signs, wound care, medication administration, patient observations, and patient admission to the unit

* Collaborates with the registered nurse and other members of the healthcare team to facilitate a safe and therapeutic environment for the patient

* Verifies, prepares, and administers medication using safe practices to assigned patients

* Performs standard diagnostic procedures including EKG, phlebotomy, bladder scans and glucoscans etc. as necessary. Collects urinary specimens

* Assists in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing care for patients

* Utilizes HRO principles within the scope of daily work

* Cares for specific patient populations

* Place the interests, dignity, and respect of patients at the center of nursing care delivery

* Meets accreditation, regulatory, compliance responsibilities and annual education requirements related to the position

* Works to promote a culture of learning and growth

* Performs other duties as assigned within the State nursing scope of practice

Prefer experience in a clinical setting

* Basic knowledge in EMR documentation systems
