Description:
A licensed practical nurse (LPN) has many responsibilities, including: Patient care: LPNs provide basic care for patients, such as monitoring vital signs, helping with bathing and dressing, and changing bandages.
Qualifications:
- Current unencumbered CO LPN/LVN license
- 1 year experience required
Responsibilities:
- Medication: LPNs administer medication as prescribed by a physician.
- Communication: LPNs communicate with patients to explain treatments and listen to concerns. They also report changes in patient health or behavior to nurses, physicians, and family members.
- Documentation: LPNs document patient care and maintain health records.
- Patient assessments: LPNs participate in initial and ongoing assessments of a patient's health status.
- Patient preparation: LPNs prepare patients for transfers or discharge.
- Assistance with medical procedures: LPNs may assist with medical procedures.
- Emergency situations: LPNs may manage emergency medical situations. Professional requirements: LPNs must adhere to dress codes, maintain patient confidentiality, and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Mental and physical requirements: LPNs need to be able to read, write, interpret, and apply information, and have high school proficiency in math. They also need to have stamina and physical endurance. LPNs work under the supervision of a registered nurse
