**Responsibilities:**
+ Adhere to internal and system-wide competencies, policies, and procedures to promote efficient work processes and high-quality care.
+ Actively participate in monthly departmental meetings, sharing ideas and suggestions for operational improvements to enhance team performance.
+ Maintain competence through ongoing education and appropriate learning experiences, ensuring necessary documentation is completed.
+ Conduct patient interviews to address healthcare questions and provide counseling, utilizing available resources and materials.
+ Administer medications and vaccines as prescribed by the attending physician, staying informed about updates in immunization requirements and protocols.
+ Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for patients and their families, ensuring a holistic approach to health.
+ Support physicians during patient examinations and perform specialized procedures, demonstrating clinical expertise.
+ Manage sterilization of office equipment and order necessary supplies, keeping accurate records. Perform laboratory duties in compliance with OSHA and CLIA standards, while also identifying and communicating patients' educational needs to their physician.
+ Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures, maintaining strict confidentiality regarding medical records and patient information.
Required:
+ Graduate of an approved Practical Nursing program
Preferred:
+ One-year clinical experience
**Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:**
Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of New York.CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hireMust complete licensure examination within FOUR MONTHS of hire or within one year of graduation, whichever comes first.? Though temporary permits are valid for one year from the date of graduation, not one year from issue of permit (or until the results of the examination are known at which time it becomes null and void), UPMC requires that GNs take the licensure examination within 4 months of their start date or they will be terminated or demoted from the GN position, at the discretion of the BU.
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
+ Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) OR Temporary Practice Permit (TPP)
