We are also highly-ranked by Castle Connolly Medical, a healthcare rating company for consumers, among the top 5 leading U.S. medical schools for training doctors.Bargaining Unit:UUPJob Summary:The Department of Pharmacy at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time TH Staff Assistant II / Associate Pharmacy Buyer. The successful candidate will:
  • Organize and maintain the pharmacy inventory and related supplies, including ordering, receiving, sorting, organizing, replenishing, rotating, and disposing stock in the pharmacy work and storage areas.
  • Perform, inventory quality control, including but not limited to, maintaining adequate levels of all medications and pharmacy supplies, conducting cycle counts, organizing and tracking outdated medications.
  • Place orders through different vendors and wholesalers as appropriate.
  • Transport inventory and supplies as necessary to storage locations.
  • Prepare and deliver materials for distribution to different departments of the hospital.
  • Process outdated medications, schedule vendor returns. and track reimbursement
  • Organize and reconcile pharmacy inventory files and records.
  • Participate in the annual physical inventory.
  • Proactively track and communicate product shortages and backorders.
  • Process drug recalls and log all recall activity.
  • Provide oversite of medication storage inspections in clinical areas.
  • Be proficient in the utilization of pharmacy equipment, systems, technology.
  • Comply with procedures, rules, and regulations to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in a Pharmacy setting.
  • Proficiency in pharmacy equipment, systems, and technology.
  • Ability to lift 10kg.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree.
  • Hospital Pharmacy experience.
  • New York State Pharmacy Technician Licensure.
  • CPhT Certification.
