JOB SUMMARY

Performs moderately complex (journey-level) habilitative and rehabilitative client care work. Work involves assisting in and ensuring the implementation of treatment programs and performing therapeutic or developmental activities. Will train others. Will act in the capacity to provide day habilitation services to individuals served by Pecan Valley Centers. Be knowledgeable of ICF/IDD and/or HCS principles and policy dependent upon clients served at facility. Assists in developing and implementing program guidelines, procedures, rules & regulations; assists in developing schedules, priorities, and standards of achieving program goals for individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities; and assists in evaluating program activities. Performs therapeutic or developmental activities. Supervises direct care staff. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Under the supervision and direction of the IDD Provider Director, plans, organizes and assists with the supervision of the Life Skills Center Program in accordance with HCS, ICF-IDD, TxHmL, and General Revenue principles and guidelines and consistent with Region policies and procedures. Will also interact with clients daily and provide an enriching learning environment to all individuals served. Provide guidance and assistance to direct care employees to ensure active treatment is ongoing and implementation of programs is completed. Responsible for maintaining client to staff ratio as appropriate to meet the needs of individuals who reside within the facility. Ensure all shifts in the designated facility are covered. Responsible for ensuring census forms and/or billing forms are accurately documented and submitted for billing. Attend annual staffing and IDT meetings as convened. Assist the QIDP or Residential Coordinator with programming documentation and ensure direct care staff are consistently and correctly filling out the required documentation of service provision. Ensures direct care staff complete all required training in a timely manner. Responsible for OJT training with new employees and continuous training of all direct care staff assigned to work within the LSC setting. Coordinate and maintain communication with family and guardians to ensure communication is on-going. Report issues or concerns of family to IDD Provider Director, QIDP, and/or Residential Coordinator as appropriate.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of IDD to include background in client rights; abuse and neglect; first aid and CPR; principles of normalization; rights, roles and responsibilities of the family and guardian; methods of teaching; and other HCS/ICF required training. Knowledge of community resources available for clients and ability to find new community resources. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisors, direct care staff, peers, and clients. Skills in identifying appropriate activities and their use in meeting the goals and needs of the clients. Ability to teach various activities to clients and co-workers. Ability to present a professional demeanor and provide constructive, sensitive feedback to direct care staff, clients, and families as needed or requested.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education: High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in Human Services field preferred.

Experience: Experience in field of intellectual and developmental disabilities or human services preferred. Supervisory experience preferred.

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

A valid Texas driver's license and good driving record is required along with a copy of a valid auto insurance card.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, lift 25 pounds, sit for an extended period, and reach overhead.
