Job Description:
Apprenticeship SpecialistThisposition reports directly to the Apprenticeship Program Manager to implement,maintain and sustain all MetroPower and CarolinaPower apprenticeships. This position will provide support forrecruiting, related instruction curricula, on-the-job Learning (OJL) andestablishing and maintaining close relationships with public and private institutions to hire top talent for the company.Day to Day Operations:
  • Maintain apprenticeship files in accordance with 29 CFR Part 29 & 30. Draft Apprentice Training Agreements & process as required.
  • Work closely with the team on Registering Apprentices.
  • Receive and respond to inquiries from apprentices and supervisors regarding apprenticeship progress.
  • Receive calls from the public inquiring about the apprenticeship programs and how to apply.
  • Monitor related instruction progress for programs and determine the correct minimum pay for apprentices in each period of apprenticeship. Monitor apprentice grades and communicate progress to managers.Being involved with Partnership such as Skills Challenges, Construction Ready, ABC, Advisory meetings, Community Outreach with Universities attending Career Fairs for Internships or Management roles.
  • Identify and apply for state/local apprenticeship grants.
Recruiting:
  • Visit talent source locations, creating and maintaining relationships, and participating in career fairs at high schools, technical colleges, universities and colleges.
  • Assist with Management Trainees, Intern recruitment and other technical positions needed at branch level.
  • Work closely with hiring managers to help forecast apprentice needs and determine the proper related instruction. Work with educators to align curricula with industry requirements and needs.
  • Work with non-profits to promote careers in construction and help develop talent pipelines.
  • Attend trade association and advisory board meetings; participate in skills challenge events.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders; ensure high quality service is provided to guarantee resolution to problems.
  • Take prompt action to resolve issues and/or complaints.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisors and apprentices.
  • Provide regular feedback and reports to stakeholders.
  • Experience in recruiting entry level/early talent, knowledge of interview techniques, work performance evaluation. Exposure to Recruiting Applicant Tracking Systems
  • 3-5 years of experience in recruiting, apprenticeship administration. Construction industry preferred.
  • Highly customer-service oriented & team player; ability to create strong relationships with all clients/customers.Valid driver's license and insured personal transportation is also required.
