Job Description:

The LUH72 Aircraft Mechanic III/Team Lead is responsible for maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures, structural components and engines of complex to extreme difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components, and applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation.

This worker also applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals. Work typically requires a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components, a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems. A detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc. is required.

Must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers alike must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule. This worker will be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records, and is responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or

maintenance efforts.

* Inspect all aircraft assigned.

* Proficient in the use of the Government STAMIS used to maintain Army aircraft forms and records.

* Plans, conducts, and supervises aircraft technical inspections.

* Computes basic weight and balance records.

* Participates in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.

* Ensures compliance with aircraft configuration control, Army oil analysis Program, and test measuring diagnostic equipment calibration.

* Provides guidance to lower level technicians in aircraft repair, technical inspection techniques, and procedures according to directives, technical manuals, work standards, and operational policies.

* Prepares evaluations, special reports, and records pertaining to aircraft maintenance repair and related activities.

* Prioritize workloads and is required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks.

* Inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by Mechanic. Removes and installs aircraft subsystem assemblies and components such as engines, rotors, transmissions, mechanical flight controls and their components. Services and lubricates aircraft and subsystems.

* Safely prepares aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks and services.

* Performs scheduled inspections and assists in performing special inspections.

* Performs limited maintenance operational checks and diagnoses and troubleshoots aircraft systems using special tools and test equipment as required.

* Uses and performs operator maintenance on tools, special tools and aircraft ground support equipment.

* Mechanic applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate problems by interpreting technical documentation such as aircraft Technical Manuals, Maintenance Information and Action Messages and all technical guidance provided through government official representatives.

* Uses a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts.

* Uses a knowledge of electrical theory and of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.

* Participates in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.

* Uses a working knowledge of technical publications and the Government STAMIS to make entries in aircraft logs and records. Receives technical assistance, as required, from higher-level technician.

Minimum Requirements

* Shall have a valid up-to-date A&P license and have Five (5) years aviation maintenance experience, Five (5) years rotary wing aircraft experience, and Two (2) years on the assigned Mission Design Series LUH72 (MDS).

* All experience must be within the Ten (10) most recent years.

* Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work site.

* Must possess the level of experience necessary to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by skill class Mechanic I and must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions.

* Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, diagnosing problems, repair procedures and replacement of parts: requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.

* Required to have basic knowledge of electrical theory.

* Must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.

* Shall have a working knowledge of making entries in aircraft logbooks & records, military technical publications, and the Army's Unit Level Logistics Aviation Information System, ACN.

* Shall have a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal and structural modification and repair.

* Shall have the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems.

* Shall have a detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as cable tensiometers.

Preferred Qualifications

* High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Working Conditions

* May work in Aircraft maintenance hangar or outside.

* May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.

* May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft.

* May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts, vehicles, or aircraft.
