Job Description:
Waukegan Steel is a structural steel fabricator serving the greater Chicagoland area. Our team has worked on various projects throughout the city including, Soldier Field, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Navy Pier, Willis Tower, Northwestern Welsh-Ryan Arena, Washington/Wabash CTA Platform, RaviniaFestival, and Lincoln Park Zoo. Job Duties
  • Comply with all plant safety rules and guidelines
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Load/Unload material from various machines while using overhead cranes
  • Operate various structural steel fabrication machinery, including but not limited to
    • Peddinghaus Angle Lines
    • Peddinghaus Drill Lines/Band Saws
    • CNC Plasma Tables
    • Ironworkers
    • Brake Presses
  • Troubleshooting machines
  • Read a Tape Measure
  • Ability to identify material shapes, lengths, and heat numbers.
  • Read cut lists or job reports to determine what needs to be completed.
  • Observe machine operation to detect material defects or machine malfunctions
  • Maintain all production and quality related reporting
  • Responsible for the overall quality of the material and productivity of the line
Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED is necessary
  • 1-3 years in manufacturing industry is preferred. If applicants do not have manufacturing experience, on-the-job training will be offered.
  • Previous machine operation, material handling, production or other warehouse related experience is mandatory.
  • Basic math, measurement, computer skills, and ability to follow directions.
  • NMP employees must be able to repeatedly lift up to 10lbs and occasionally lift up to 30lbs as needed.
  • Ability to follow all safety and health regulations
