Job Description:
I. PURPOSE/SUMMARYTends one or more machine tools, special purpose machines, or industrial robots to machine metal work pieces to specifications on production basis by performing the following duties.II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESLifts work piece manually or using hoist and secureswork piece in fixture or loads automatic feeding device.Starts machine, engages feed, and observes operation.Inspects and gages machined work pieces to verify conformance to specifications.Moves machine controls and guides to adjust machine.Replaces worn machine accessories such as cutting tools or brushes.Adds coolant to machine reservoir and turns valve to start flow of coolant.Files, sands, or shapes machined parts.Cleans machined parts.Tends machines and equipment other than machine tools.Ensures Tenneco produces quality products and has the authority to stop production in order to correct quality problems.Follows environmental polices and procedures and communicates concerns and issues to management.Other duties may be assigned.III. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.IV. JOB SPECIFICATIONSA. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEHigh School/GED Diploma Required.No prior experience or training, however, previous manufacturing experience will aid performance within the first few months.B. SKILL/CHARACTERISTICSAbility to comprehend simple instructions, and short correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.Ability to add and subtract. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.C.
