Job DescriptionJob Summary:The Machine Operator is responsible for daily operating of the grading machine to insure the correct product is going into the correct packing in accordance to the customer specifications. The daily operations include setting up the grading machine packaging, carton dates and general cleaning of the area around the grading machine. The Machine Operator will work closely with the maintenance tech, packaging lead and the processing supervisor.Essential Job Functions:
- Ensure that daily start-up requirements of the grader machine are in place:
- Ensuring that all the proper packaging materials are used, and the packaging materials meet or exceed the customer quality requirements as instructed by plant supervisor.
- Daters are set up to meet or exceed the customer requirements
- Resolve as many immediately-correctable issues as possible in the course of his/her normal daily activities focusing on continuous improvement
- Take ownership of the grading machine by
- Prompt responses to machine errors - problem solving to increase uptime
- Adjustments to the de-nesters for optimal operations
- Verifying the accuracy and print quality of the date printed on the carton.
- Repair and maintain equipment where skill set and training allow in order to improve the reliability of the equipment.
- Consistently running the correct packaging materials throughout the shift.
- Proper product switch over communication
- Ensuring the right packaging material is being used.
- Immediately report any mechanical problems or poor quality conditions to the Plant Supervisor or Maintenance staff where help is needed for repairs.
- Follow Centrum Valley Farms SQF program as it relates to handling of packaging material and documentation and to meet or exceed the customer requirements for packing of the product.
- Assist in creating a One-Team environment by communicating effectively with all plant supervision and staff.
- Follow Centrum Valley Farms hygiene requirements as outlined in the Good Manufacture Policy

- Keep your work area clean
- Be mindful of all moving equipment in your area.
- Clean out all screens under washers and make sure all filters are clean.
- Ensure inedible blue barrels have labels and are stored away at the end of the shift.
- Prep the grader machine for the night sanitation.
- Comply with all USDA regulations, Centrum Valley Farms Good Manufacturing Practices, SQF, Safety Programs, Biosecurity Policies and Procedures and Food Defense Programs.
- Perform all other tasks as requested by management.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Prior egg grading machine operator experience a plus but not mandatory
- Knowledge and ability to use a computer
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Must be able to lift 50lbs
- Must be able to twist and bend
- Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time on different surfaces, including concrete
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Must be able to reach and lift above the head
- Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
