SUMMARYTends fabricating machines such as cutoff saws, shears, rolls, brakes, presses, forming machines, folding machines, that cut, shape, and bend metal sheets by performing the following duties.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.Other duties may be assigned.* Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.* Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.* Positions workpiece against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade.* Pushes button or depresses pedal to activate machine.* Observes machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.* Measures workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy and quality of machine operation.* Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or workpieces.* Sets up machine, and stacks, marks, packs, and transports finished workpieces.* Knowledge of automated machines and computer operated machine interfaces.* Handling gageing tooling, punches and dies uses caliper, micrometer and tape measure.* Directs and trains machine operator's assistant.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Experience with CAD/CAM packages; for example NC express, Master CAM, Pro Engineering or other CAM packages.LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to read a micrometer and tape measure.REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
