Position Summary:Responsible for assembling components and sub-assemblies of machines, and conduct machine qualification and inspection activities.Job Responsibilities:
- Assemble sub-components of machines.
- Install sub-assemblies in main assemblies.
- Complete sub-assemblies on machines.
- Installation and connection of pneumatic components.
- Identify and communicate build issues (vendor, engineering, assembly, etc.)
- Use power tools in a safe and responsible manner (chop saw, drill, etc)
- Inspects, cleans and assembles parts and equipment to ensure customers' specifications are met.
- Use crane and various hand tools.
- Verify conformance of parts to stock list and blueprints using measuring instruments, gauges and micrometers.
- Verify alignment and tolerance of moving parts using measuring instruments such as dial indicators and thickness gauges.
- Identify documents and resolve issues regarding the assembly of the machine as well as suggest solutions.
- Disassemble machine when necessary to repair machine.
- Correctly fill out Qualification and Inspection sheets of Gleason Machines ensuring conformance to Gleason specifications stated in them. This includes all mechanical, hydraulic, lubrication and pneumatic systems as well as all machine cycles, safety requirements and special customer requirements.
- Set up machines to perform test jobs and/or customer jobs to specified limits.
- Analyze assembly blueprint and specifications manual and plan machine building operations.
- Verify conformance of parts to stock list and blueprints using measuring instruments, gauges and micrometers.
- Align components for assembly manually or with hoist and bolt, screw, dowel, weld or rivet parts together using hand tools, rivet gun, and welding equipment or arrange for assembly by welder and electrician.
- Verify alignment and tolerance of moving parts using measuring instruments such as dial indicators and thickness gauges.
- Test operation of assembly by hand.
- Assemble, set up and operate machine to verify functioning, machine capabilities and conformance to customer's specifications.
- May form and fasten piping, fixtures, and attachments required to service machine with air, water and oil.
- Train other employees as required.
- Willing ot support Field Service organization through consultation and/or travel.
- May require some travel and flexibility to work different shifts.
- Communicate with Engineering and other groups to resolve issues.
- Work independently on many machine models.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints/diagrams.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with machine build process.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of systems (i.e. Microsoft Office, SAP Parts lookup, bay maps)
- Ability to setup and interpret measurement equipment (i.e. dial/electronic indications and chart records).
Preferred Education/Training/Experience:
- High school or GED
- 4 years of related experience.
