MACHINE SET-UP OPERATOR PHB, Inc. located in Fairview, Pennsylvania, recognized globally as a fully integrated supplier of quality parts and assemblies, has openings for MACHINE SET-UP OPERATORS in the Die Cast Division full-time on 2 nd and 3 rd shift.The ideal candidate will have maintenance and/or mechanical experience; working in a manufacturing environment is a plus.JOB DUTIES:
- Make sure that the correct die to be setup is delivered to the correct machine.
- Complete all work center preparations, setups and adjustments for die casting machines and related equipment (i.e. auto ladles and extractors). Tear down and setup punch presses.
- Inspect machine components for wear during setup and report any issues to supervision.
- Install the proper water and/or oil plumbing on dies as detailed on plumbing diagram.
- Mechanical and measuring ability is important to insure the correct sized rings, nozzles, plungers, sleeves, knockout pins, etc. are installed correctly. This process must be completed in proper sequence.
- Read, interpret and fill out all inspection, method and setup documentation as required.
- Generally, assist in all phases of operation which will include spot inspection of castings, machine adjustments, examination of dies before installation, examination of furnaces and pots for cracks, etc.
- Assist Process Control with hot oil and water line verification. Make sure hot oil units are tagged and set with the proper temperature and are checked for leaks and proper flow. If gas torches are used, position carefully and correctly adjust the flames to proper height.
- After setup and preheat, run sufficient shots to have the job checked out and approved to run in a production mode. Verify that all safety doors and safety switches are operating correctly.
- Operating several different types of machinery and equipment; i.e. die cast machines, robots, extractor, auto ladles, etc.
- Implement all OSHA regulations including the use of all personal protective equipment and the required machine guards
A full range of body motion is required, including bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, and wrist action.
