Job Description:

Responsible for the periodic maintenance and repair of transportation vehicles and a variety of construction work equipment. Pay Rate: $21.00hrSchedule: Monday-Thursday; 6:00am-4:30pmCORE JOB: Perform complex diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on a wide variety of fleet vehicles and work equipment failures utilizing appropriate knowledge and research skills. Setup/outfit new vehicles in accordance with Fleet management, local and state regulations, Department of Transportation, and OSHA guidelines.Responsibilities are as follows and not limited to:Complete assignments by performing basic and/or complex troubleshooting, repair and maintenance on auto, truck, and construction equipment Perform general welding, including structural, and bodywork as needed; general welding may include performing light structural welding (spot, stitch and bead type welds) and welding fabrication/repairs on service trucks bodies, such as mud flaps, trailer fenders, trailer d-rings and on ramps Install and maintain communications equipment and other Company technologies as required Coordinate vehicle/equipment repairs with outside vendors and approve estimated repairs, as appropriate May assist with the mechanical maintenance of the command center trailer and provide outage support as required Maintain CNG station and perform CNG tank inspections as requiredMaintain parts, tools, supplies, and equipment inventoriesMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A minimum of two years of mechanical experience dealing extensively with all types of construction equipment and fleet vehicles.Two years of vocational training in automotive technology preferred. General welding, including structural, and fabrication experience is preferred. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) or other certifications (such as forklift, manlift, CNG, welding, A/C repair, Air brakes, etc.) is preferred. Have knowledge of auto, truck, and construction equipment mechanics; basic to complex mechanical and maintenance practices and procedures; all tools and technical diagnostic equipment usage and maintenance; safe work practices including automotive environmental compliance; Company forms and records; Company procedure manuals; state and federal regulations; troubleshooting techniques; complex diagnostic, repair and maintenance.Must possess a valid driver's license and/or other special licenses/certifications as required. Must be able to meet requirements to acquire and maintain a Commercial Driver's License.Must be able to pass a background check, drug screen and DMV moving violation report.Must be able to wear and use all personal protective safety equipment as operating conditions dictate. Must be able to work with basic auto shop chemicals, both regulated and hazardous waste.Must be able to work in another location, district, or department, when required. Must be able to work outdoors, exposed to extremes in temperatures and conditions.Meet and maintain the physical requirements of the position, including awkward positioning, reaching, color vision, fingering, handling, hearing, holding, kneeling, seeing, standing, turning, twisting, concentration on tasks, reasoning and the ability to work around potential health and safety hazards. Carrying up to 50 pounds. Lifting up to 75 pounds. Pulling up to 50 pounds. Pushing up to 100 pounds.
