Summary:
Oversees all machine shop manufacturing operations, ensuring efficiency, competitiveness, and profitability. Manages equipment, facilities, and personnel to optimize performance and meet objectives. Applies hands-on leadership and knowledge of metalworking and machining to meet precise specifications. Supervises machinists and advanced workshop practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directs all manufacturing activities, including assembly, material handling, machine maintenance, tooling, production, scheduling, and industrial engineering.
- Monitors daily operations to ensure goals are met and policies are followed efficiently.
- Provides leadership to foster good labor relations and shop communication.
- Represents the shop in company and external meetings, building collaborative relationships.
- Develops and implements new processes for continuous improvement and production value.
- Manages documentation, reporting, and record-keeping for shop activities.
- Participates in the selection and acquisition of manufacturing equipment.
- Recommends shop floor organization for optimal efficiency.
- Troubleshoots machine and system issues and coordinates resolutions.
- Ensures proper maintenance of equipment and promotes workplace safety.
- Oversees work allocation, performance evaluations, and professional development of staff.
- Responsible for hiring, training, discipline, and employee decisions.
- Performs additional duties as required.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelors in Manufacturing, with emphasis in machining or
- Four years of supervisory or managerial experience within or related to production management and/or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- Solid math foundation.
