Job Type Full-time Description Hobson & Motzer is a vertically integrated manufacturer of precision metal components and assemblies serving the needs of the medical device market and other advanced industries. We operate two manufacturing plants with primary operations-and headquarters-centrally located in Durham, CT; our Advanced Manufacturing Center is just a few miles away in Wallingford, CT.

  • Works with Engineering/Quality Control to be sure all dimensions and processes are in conformance by using precision inspection equipment to verify work and fixtures.
  • Effectively perform start of shift and daily maintenance procedures on tooling fixtures and production equipment where required.
  • Effectively set-up and tear-down tools and fixtures in accordance to established procedures.
  • Ensures all set-ups are properly maintained to ensure the safety of the operators and the efficient operation of the equipment.
  • Monitors machine coolant/oil levels/predictive maintenance programs as needed and reports to supervisor.
  • Reset production equipment and robots/automation if malfunctions occur.
  • Work with key personnel to ensure all dimensions, processes and automation are in conformance; develop basic skills to work with automation/robots.
  • Analyze Problem Reports and confer with key personnel to make appropriate machine adjustments.
  • Maintain necessary Computer Maintenance Software (CMS) records after tasks are completed.
  • Replaces dull or broken cutters, and pre-stages tools while machines are operating.
  • Maintains an organized, clean and safe work environment by following 6S standards.
  • Properly follows all H&M procedures and policies.
  • Use correct P.P.E. per JHA's and Job Description; required to wear safety shoes with the standard F2412 and F2413 rating. Individuals trained in NFPA 70E Arc Flash are required to wear electrical hazard safety shoes with the F2412EH and F2413EH rating.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement activities, including the Idea System.
Requirements
  • High School or Technical School Diploma, or General Education Degree (GED) preferred; one to four years of related experience and/or training or combination of education and technical experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, part drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write notes.
  • Ability to calculate basic math, use fractions, decimals and percent.
  • Ability to apply logical thinking and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Able to work Saturday and/or Sunday on a rotating basis to meet business needs.
