Job Description:
Job Summary: The Imaging (DOD) Technician Team Lead is responsible for helping to oversee the maintenance, continual operation and continuous improvement of all DOD lines and related auxiliary equipment. The Team Lead will ensure optimized efficiency by managing the workload of DOD technicians and assisting them with adjusting machinery and equipment settings as needed. This position will work closely with the production and maintenance supervisors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and guide technicians to ensure work is completed efficiently and effectively while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
  • Work with the team to create and enforce a regular preventative maintenance plan for equipment to minimize downtime and ensure machines are operating at peak performance.
  • Provide guidance to technicians when issues arise during job setups, ensuring that procedures are documented for future reference and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure availability before, during, and immediately following shift change, break, and lunch times to support the team, monitor operations, and address any issues.
  • Ensure all technicians follow established SOPs, maintaining consistency, quality, and safety across all operations.
  • Lead the effort to resolve technical issues on the production floor in a timely manner, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum equipment uptime.
  • Participate in developing action plans to create greater efficiencies and resolve potential issues with safety, quality, production and other lean manufacturing concepts
  • Apply the appropriate hand/power tools, electric and volt meters, equipment to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair/replace parts
  • Promote a positive work environment by demonstrating good communication, cooperation and a positive attitude while working with other.
  • Assist the production and maintenance supervisors as needed with various tasks or special projects to ensure the department's objectives are met.
  • Be available for overtime or weekend shifts when required to meet production demands or respond to urgent issues.
Requirements
  • Three years of print industry experience and hands-on equipment operation, with a working knowledge of equipment functionality, operation, and safety protocols.
  • Advanced knowledge of encoding and imaging technologies, including barcode construction.
  • Strong understanding of hot melt equipment and its operational applications within a production environment.
  • Expertise in software tools such as CPST, Atlantic Zeiser, and Precision Finishing lines, including familiarity with their integration and maintenance.
  • Prior experience troubleshooting and maintaining PLC devices, printers, labelers, as well as pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Strong understanding of hot melt equipment and its operational applications within a production environment.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment, respond quickly to issues, and adapt to change-anticipating, analyzing, diagnosing, and resolving problems as they arise.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with an excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of PC and database programs; experience working with an internal ERP system, word processing, and spreadsheets
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate, manage, and guide a team of technicians while fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and effectively and efficiently adapt to change - anticipate, analyze, diagnose and resolve problems as they arise
  • Solid understanding of OSHA regulations and lock-out tag-out procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
