Alabama Cooperage, Machinist Alabama Cooperage, in Trinity, Alabama, is looking for a Machinist to join our team as we make the best white oak barrels for maturing whiskey for iconic brands like Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey. Job Description The Machinist role requires a qualified candidate who can fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts using various methods and fit and assemble these machined parts into complete units. In addition, the Machinist is responsible for (under minimal supervision) setting up and operating CNC machines; skilled precision and bench work in the fabrication, maintenance, repair, and alteration of machinery, machine parts, tools, and equipment. Primary Job Functions:
  • Must be proficient in operating tool room equipment such as manual and CNC mills, lathes, surface grinders, and general shop equipment
  • The ability to create detailed drawings from broken or worn parts is a plus
  • The ability to read and follow blueprints and other engineering information to machine tools and parts to specifications
  • Ability to use hand tools accurately and safely, such as die grinders, belt sanders
  • Machine parts to specifications utilizing CNC Milling/Grinding machines
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances using precision tools
  • Perform inspections of finished parts
  • Willingness to work in other capacities when needed.
Qualifications
  • A high school diploma is preferred
  • Prior Machinist, lathes, and mills experience
  • Commitment to safe, quality workmanship
  • Ability to accept and apply instructions in various formats
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with other employees.
  • Basic Word/Excel software skills
  • Good attendance and attention to detail
  • Physical Requirements: full body mobility and the ability to move about in a production environment and perform the following tasks for periods of 12 hours, to include:
  • Standing, Bending, squatting, stooping, pushing, pulling, climbing and twisting on an occasional basis.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds from the ground to waist height and pushing, pulling, and maneuvering up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis.
