OverviewThe Machinist II role completes a wide range of complex support tasks with minimal supervision by applying extensive knowledge in a specialized function. Depending upon the role, may define methods and procedures on new assignments. Recognized as a subject matter expert in an area of specialized expertise. Major Position Responsibilities
- Set up and execution of machining operations used to manufacture parts with close tolerances and critical finishes in ID, OD and spherical radiuses.
- Operate CNC based and conventional machinery, lathes, mills, and grinding machines.
- Monitor machine operations to determine whether adjustments are required and adjust as necessary. May include CNC conversational programming and entering offsets.
- Verify, inspect, and measure parts to ensure that surfaces and dimensions meet specifications.
- Performs secondary work such as deburring and prepares for the next job while machine is running.
- Perform basic maintenance, such as cleaning machines and work area.
Basic Qualifications
- Machinist Certification preferred or 6 years of related experience.
- Experience using measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, etc. Ability to work with tolerances less than 0.0005 .
- Expert knowledge and understanding of the application of geometric tolerance symbols. Solid ability to read and follow instructions including Engineering and CAD drawings. Complex math required i.e. Trigonometry. Execute calculations considering multiple requirements.
