OverviewKaman Specialty Bearings & Engineered Products, has an exciting opportunity as a CNC Machinist III - Spherical at our Bloomfield CT facility. Kaman Specialty Bearings & Engineered Products, a division of Kaman Corporation, is a leader in the design and manufacture of high technology mechanical products, such as self-lubricated bearings and driveline couplings, used in aviation, marine, hydropower and other industrial applications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- With limited technical supervision, checks out programming, sets up, operates and adjusts semi-automatic numerically controlled machine tools to perform a series of progressive machining operations on repetitive work to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications requiring considerable skill
- Works from programming instructions, operational data and machine setup instructions defining and coding tool arrangements, material clamping methods, machine calibrations and console settings
- Perform operations that may include drilling, honing, boring, milling and turning, screw machine operation, etc., on routine and repetitive operations.
- Checks parts for conformance to specifications
- Perform all responsibilities within productivity and quality expectations
- Maintain clean and safe work environment. Follow safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Report safety incidents to supervisor
- Make recommendations for improvements to work processes. Contribute to 5S program in work area
- Provide a high level of service to all internal and external customers. Contribute to positive teamwork environment
- Perform other duties as assigned. Participate in learning other positions. Accomplish related results as needed
QualificationsEducation:
- High School diploma/GED
- Machining Training Certificate preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a CNC Machinist II or minimum of 2 years manufacturing experience as a CNC machinist
Skills / Knowledge
- Understanding of Common GD&T restraints such as runout, concentricity, and Parallelism
- Proficient in use of shop math
- Limited technical supervision
- Requires knowledge of machining techniques such as cutting jaws, touching tools off and tramming fixtures
- Familiarity with computer numerically controlled machine tool operating procedures such as dry run, geometry and wear offsets, MDI functions and basic G codes
