ECG services the locomotive, shipping, mechanical press, oil and gas and compression markets. ECG is currently hiring for the Machinist III (Finish Lathe) position. Employees in this position operate large manual lathe. Duties and responsibilities are dynamic and may change over time to suit business needs. The Machinist III position is a non-exempt, full time opportunity that typically works a 4-on 4-off schedule working 12 hour shifts. Machinist III may work day, night, or rotating shifts as dictated by business needs. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent Driver's License 3 or more years machining experience preferred Strong analytical skills and demonstrated problem-solving abilities Familiar with general computer applications Excellent organizational skills Must be results oriented with a strong desire to succeed Solid verbal and written communication skills REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Perform all work in accordance with Company safety rules Read and understand written instructions and work lists Basic shop math skills (Algebra / Geometry) Read and interpret manufacturing drawings Read and interpret work instructions and operating guidelines Use precision measuring instruments Experience operating overhead cranes RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE: Primary responsibility is to operate a large, manual finish lathe machine: Tooling in Radii, Bores, Faces, Diameters, Lengths and Chamfers working to .0004 tolerance Drilling and tapping Turning OD threads Loading work piece into machine Choosing the correct tools for operations to be performed Monitoring the machining process, identifying and correcting issues Unloading and deburring of semi-finished part Basic machine maintenance (simple repairs, filling oil tanks, cleaning out chips and debris) Performing in-process inspection of completed work pieces Maintaining relevant reports and documentation Keeping work area neat, clean, and organized Moving items with overhead cranes, power pushers, fork lifts, and other motorized equipment Performs all work in accordance with plant safety rules. Maintains highest quality standards in the execution of all assigned work. Performs other routine labor work as assigned and as required in accordance with production needs. This position will require occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds and frequent lifting of up to 30 pounds. This position will also require frequent sitting, standing, reaching and climbing. It will also include occasional walking, climbing, crawling, and squatting. The physical demands for this job are Light-Medium.
