Job Summary:Assists with the installation, setup, programming, operation, inspection, and adjustment of various types of conventional or automatic machines used to produce precision parts and instruments.Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ability to follow all safety and standard work requirements.
- Fabricates and modifies parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
- Creates machining processes
- Understands most machining applications.
- Creates and or modifies programs
- Completes parts from start to finish with little to no direction
- Ability to modify existing parts / tools to meet immediate demand
- Machines parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
- Measures, examines, and tests completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
- Ability to assist in creation and improvement of standard work processes
Qualifications:
- Performs work under little supervision.
- Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
- Possesses beginning to completion working knowledge of subject matter.
- Mathematical skills.
- Advanced technical expertise.
- Manual dexterity.
- Physical Stamina. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Education Requirements:
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED
Years of Experience:
- Minimum 5 years experience.
- Machinist III requires ability to efficiently setup / operate multiple types of equipment. Can create a part from start to finish.
