Summary/Objective Under Supervision, runs and operates manual and CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) Mill and Lather to fabricate and build parts for customer and shop needs. Includes precision instrument makers who fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical instruments. Knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. Essential Functions
- Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner and complies with company policies.
- Determine the uses of personal protective equipment (PPE); identify the safety equipment and procedures related to safe work practices and surrounding environment.
- Able to run and complete parts using the MRP Network.
- Using the MRP system to clock in and out of jobs upon set-up and completion, also knowledge of MRP to look ahead on up-coming jobs and machine set-up mill and lathe set-up.
- Maintaining and filling out of quality sheets to verify part tolerances.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Establish work procedures for fabricating new structural products, using a variety of CNC mill and lathe processes.
- Support metalworking projects from planning and fabrication through assembly, inspection, and testing, using knowledge of machine functions, mathematics, metal properties and overall shop knowledge.
- Design fixtures, tooling, and experimental parts to meet special engineering needs. Test experimental models under simulated operating conditions for such purposes as development, standardization, and feasibility of design.
- Use practical experience in the application of 'G' codes and 'M' codes, writing CNC machine programs, and machine setup and operation for secondary operators to complete jobs.
- Measure, examine, and test completed parts using the Zeiss CMM Machine to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications of parts and materials.
- May perform other duties as assigned by management

Education and Experience
- High School diploma or GED required
- Minimum 5 years' experience and or training or an equivalent combination of education and training and experience, preferred in set-up CNC lathes, multi-axis lathes and 4-axis horizontal milling and vertical milling machines.
