The Machinist must be able to operate machines such as manual lathes, mills, presses, key machines, surface grinders, and various hand tools to perform operations such as turning, boring, or facing metal work pieces according to specifications; the Machinist must be able to check and verify conformance of machined product to established specifications. All benefits are available on day one of employment.Duties Include:
  • Set-up and operate designated machines per verbal and written instructions, using work instructions, figures and sketches to produce tooling, fixtures and/or production parts as needed.
  • Must show continual improvement in their ability to set-up and operate their designated machine(s) in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Must be able to read blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, and measure sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Must be able to select and secure accuracy holding fixtures, jaws, cutting tools, inserts, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers and grinders.
  • Starts and observes machine operation with caution to detect set up errors, malfunctions, or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
  • Machinist may have to consult with supervisors, engineers, programmers, or others in order to resolve machining or assembly problems.
  • Various assembly duties while following customer specifications.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends and holidays when necessary to meet production demands is required.
Qualifications
  • At least 5 years' machining experience in a manufacturing environment (industrial electric motor repair experience a plus).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Observe all safety procedures and policies and use PPE as required.
  • Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Proficient use of calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators to measure tolerances as tight as .0005.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of experience.
  • Technical / vocational school certification or degree preferred.
