We manufacture specifically engineered solutions for the aerospace, automotive, power generation and research & development fields.Summary/objective:Our Machinists use a variety of lathes, mills, grinders and other machines to create parts and support components. Our machine shop has both manual and CNC machines. Machinist primarily focus on manual machines, however knowledge and skills in both disciplines is desired. As primarily a support department you must be able to adapt to changing priorities easily. Our parts are highly engineered, but often require rework to produce the final product. An ideal Machinist at Jetseal will work well in a team, highly engaged, adaptive, and receptive of input from multiple departments. As a Machinist, you will be responsible for creating support tooling used in our manufacturing process as well as completed parts. Job orders received will need to be produced using a variety of equipment and within allowed aerospace tolerances. - Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.
- Remove and replace dull cutting tools.
- Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
- Listen to machines during operation in order to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and adjust machines to compensate for problems.
- Adjust machine feed and speed, change cutting tools, or adjust machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or if machines malfunction.
- Stop machines to remove finished workpieces, or to change tooling, setup, or workpiece placement, according to required machining sequences.
- Lift workpieces to machines manually, or with hoists.
- Calculate machine speed and feed ratios, and the size and position of cuts.
- Move material, tools, fixtures and equipment as required.
Education, Experience, & Skills desired:
- Previous manual machining and/or manufacturing experience (Preferred)
- Knowledge and experience in MasterCam (preferably 2018 version)
- CNC experience (4 Axis experience a plus)
Work environment:Well-lit and clean with moderate noise level. Position will have direct contact with various metal materials. Moderate exposure to environments outside the facility. Physical demands:
- Sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
