Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Machinist without more than normal supervision. lathes, boring mills, milling machines, grinding machines and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines to perform specific machining operation in the machining of castings, forgings, or other raw stocks made of various metals, metal alloys, and other materials. I can use a variety of auxiliary machine tool attachments; determine speeds, feeds, and coolants, lubricants, or abrasives to be used; and perform precision hand work such as filing, scraping, and lapping to fit, assemble, and finish machined parts. I interpret work orders or oral instructions accompanied by blueprints, sketches, drawings, sample parts, parts programs or other specifications to determine work procedures, materials, machines, tools, equipment, and attachments to be used during the sequence of machining operations. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Use Hand Tools for Machine Shop Ability To Use Shop Drawings Knowledge of Metals Measurement and Layout Operation of Machine Tools Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Physical Effort: The work requires standing, stooping, bending and reaching; and frequent handling of objects weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally objects weighing as much as 40 pounds. Hoists, hand trucks, lifts and other workers are available to assist with heavier items. Working Conditions: Works in a well-lighted, heated and ventilated shop with concrete floors. Exposed to dust from grinding, oil from machines, dirt, heat, noise and fumes. Subject to eye and skin injuries from flying metal chips, abrasive particles and hot metal; skin irritation from contact with coolants, lubricants and abrasive compounds; and danger to the fingers, hands and other parts of the body from cutting tools, grinding wheels, rotating work pieces and moving parts of machine.
Compensation: $28-$32
