Job Title: MachinistJob DescriptionThis role is responsible for setting up and operating the machines within our High Performance Cell. The equipment includes a Swiss style turning center, a 4-station rotary cutting and end work machine, and a 10-station rotary turning/milling machine. With the complex nature of products manufactured in the CNC department, setup and related tooling are critical parts of the process. This role focuses on troubleshooting and machine setup, allowing operators to concentrate on increasing output and achieving quality standards.ResponsibilitiesPre-stage tooling ahead of machines running out current job.Support pre-staging of materials in coordination with the operator, programmer, and Area Lead.Responsible for the safe setting of all equipment and relevant tooling in the CNC machining area.Support training of production operators in safe and efficient operation of machines.Take an active role in suggesting improvements to the process with regards to SMED and throughput, and standardizing machine practices.Support improvement in 5S standards in the area, especially around tooling storage and staging.Support DVC and cost reduction initiatives.Participate in testing of inserts, tooling, and materials.Responsible for reviewing tooling prior to put away.Follow all departmental and company safety rules and procedures.Receive instructions, material requirements, prints, routings, and work orders for the job.Convey supervisor's instructions to operators or provide direction in the absence of the supervisor.Work with direct and indirect labor personnel to ensure raw materials, parts, and tooling are available and staged to maintain an uninterrupted flow of production.Work with machine operators to provide operational and troubleshooting assistance.Set up and operate equipment as required.Essential SkillsExperience with Lathe, Mill, and Blueprint reading.Proficiency in Machining and Machine setup.Knowledge of Fanuc and Mastercam programming.Experience with G code and Mazak machines.Ability to read and interpret blueprints.Capability to set up and operate machines.Proficiency in using measuring instruments such as scales, callipers, and micrometers.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in a machine shop environment.Ability to support training of production operators.Experience in suggesting process improvements.Knowledge of SMED and throughput processes.Understanding of 5S standards.Experience in DVC and cost reduction initiatives.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $27.00Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
