The Magnet Program Coordinator

Overview:
The Magnet Program Coordinator is a transformational leader who will provide direction to the Patient Care Services Division and coordinate the integration of the Magnet Programs expectations into the nursing and organizational infrastructure. The candidate will develop, implement, and facilitate shared governance and professional advancement programs within the department of patient care services and consult on professional practice activities across the enterprise. The role will coordinate, track, and maintain electronic repository of exemplary practice examples, sources of evidence and empirical outcomes. The position will promote the professional image of nursing, ensuring interprofessional collaboration, the delivery of high-quality clinical care, promotion of a relationship-based care models, and continued alignment between the department of nursing and organizations mission and vision. The Magnet Program coordinator is responsible for data analysis and writing the Magnet document, interim reporting, and will coordinate Magnet site visits.
- The Magnet Program Coordinator possesses strong management ability and problem-solving skills; ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. The candidate must have presentation and writing skills, ability to understand contemporary Performance Improvement processes, such as Lean methodologies, Plan-Do-Study-Act and Performance Management. Must be able to interact and negotiate with key stakeholders at the executive and medical staff level. The candidate will evaluate and communicate HSS nursing practices and work in an environment using nursing sensitive patient outcomes and/or staffing measures that inform HSS leadership regarding professional performance as compared with national best practice indicator benchmarks. The Magnet Program Coordinator will educate nurses and other nurse leaders across the organization regarding the comprehensive nursing excellence program. - Serves as a resource to Coordinate all Magnet related activities to ensure the highest level of patient care, incorporating patient safety, interdisciplinary communication, patient satisfaction, staff satisfaction and resource utilization
- Serves as a mentor, coach and facilitator for nursing shared governance councils
- Serves as a resource and supports RN clinical ladder structure
- Facilitates nursing leadership understanding and integration of professional and regulatory standards, including ANCC Magnet standards into nursing practice.
- Works collaboratively with the Directors of Nursing to ensure high quality clinical care, as well as the coordination and submission of nursing data submission requirements, such as NDNQI.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes American Nurses Credentialing Center Commission on Accreditation criteria to assess needs, plan, implement and evaluate nursing practice activities which qualify as exemplary practice examples

- The Magnet Program coordinator will assess, plan, implement, evaluate nursing excellence standards and is data driven.
- Project Management: Develops and implements projects using a systematic approach to translate work plans into actionable components and measurable outcomes. Supports, Enhances and develops departmental programs with actionable and measurable outcomes. The programs will support the strategic goals of the organization and integrate Magnet standards unit the nursing infrastructure
- Performs Magnet gap analysis and proposes action plans for identified gaps.
- Tracks program data and creates reports that support planning, monitoring of program activities and financials, and quality and improvement initiatives. Analyzes initial findings, highlights trends and recommends actions based on findings. Manage NDNQI and ANCC databases.

Qualifications:
Required Criteria
- Masters degree
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing (if not MSN prepared)
- Current NYS RN licensure (or eligibility to obtain)
- ANCC recognized certification
Experience Required:
- 5 - 7 years clinical experience including a magnet facility
- At least 2 years of experience partnering with a team to Magnet designation or re-designation
- Experience contributing to writing a Magnet document
