The
Mail Clerk reports to general supervision, maintains mail services in the Johns Hopkins Medical Institution, including mail sorting, data entry, metering of outbound mail, and reporting of department postage charges, and automated reports.

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Knowledge: - Requires ability to read and understand English in order to follow instructions, job assignments, schedules and work orders.
- Ability to utilize and understand universal safety precautions when delivering
Skills: - Work requires interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse groups of people internal and external to the Hospital.
- Analytical ability required to decipher, sort, disperse mail correctly, and to ensure accuracy of reports (i.e., metered mail charges, volume audit sheets, etc.).
- Ability to type a minimum of twenty (20) wpm.
- Preferred experience using Excel and Word, photocopying, faxing, and email.
Work Experience: - A minimum of six (6) months mail center experience and/or one (1) year clerical work experience.
Working Conditions: - Works in an office environment where there is little discomfort due to dust, but may be subject to some machine noise.
- Position requires frequent movement and some prolonged sitting or standing (up to 95%) to process mail and/or operate machinery.
- Must be able to lift approximately 50 pounds and push/pull up to 200 pounds.
- Position requires flexibility to work in various weather-related environments, deal with shifting job priorities or work at various on-site/ off-site locations sites
