Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Physical Plant Department, and as delegated by the Administrative Management, the Mail Delivery Clerk is responsible for ensuring the timely and thorough receipt, logging, and distribution of all daily incoming and outgoing mail and packages passing through the college mail system (Campus Center mailroom and Physical Plant).

* Perform all duties in conjunction with the operation of the college mail system

* Perform all specific duties in a diligent and professional workmanlike manner

* To provide the sale of postage materials and shipping services, to maintain accurate records of such sales, and to operate any equipment necessary in the operation of the college mail system

* To maintain the necessary records required in operation of the college mail system, including the accurate logging of shipments delivered by suppliers (including the US Postal Service when applicable) or dropped off at the window/desk

* Assist in a cooperative manner with B&G personnel, other college departments, outside contractors, and delivery personnel for the harmonious and expeditious completion of duties required, and to maintain the steady and accurate flow of materials

* Attend training conferences and meetings to update skills and professional abilities

* Maintain a neat and orderly work area. Pick up and secure the general area each day

* Deliver all incoming mail and packages to campus departments as assigned efficiently and accurately

* Must be responsible and willing to carry large sums of money and valuables, when necessary, as required in duties

* Conform to the safety and efficiency standards established by Bard College

* Other duties as assigned

* Physical ability and willingness to perform related work requirements

* Must be a high school graduate or the equivalent

* Must be willing to continually train and accept changes in directives

* Must be able to account for required bookkeeping of inventories and cash

* Must be able to read and write the English language, and follow trade directives and documents

* Must be able to communicate effectively with people and the public

* Must possess a valid driver's license and be approved to operate Bard College vehicles

* Must be able to lift 50 pounds

Compensation: $30.66/hour (.75 probationary adjustment for 90 days)

This salary range reflects the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for the position at the time of the job posting. Salary decisions are dependent on several factors including but not limited to market and organizational considerations, experience, and qualifications of a selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
