This position exists to provide service to state agencies by processing mail on a Pitney Bowes meter. Postage chargebacks are accounted for through Pitney Bowes Business Mail Manager Accounting system. This position is also cross trained to provide help in the other areas of Central Mail when directed to complete daily production of outgoing mail. This position assists with sorting USPS incoming mail delivered by the USPS and also state agency mail (Inter-office). This position requires basic computer skills and math skills sufficient to operate equipment and guarantee accuracy of postage used to mail out daily mail.
This is accomplished by:
+ Process mail on meter by applying correct postage to each mail piece through proper identification of OCR qualifying mail, Pitney Bowes Presort Services, flat, media and parcel mail pieces.
+ Mail is processed and postage charged to correct agency through the use of designated agency bar code cards scanned into the department tracking systems.
+ Calculation and application of additional postage when applicable, based on mail class.
+ Print and adhere deposit and end of day meter strips to the daily end of day meter sheet.
+ Sort inbound USPS and interoffice mail by placing mail or items into agency slot in preparation of delivery via the internal courier system.
+ Proactively maintaining work area, equipment, and calling in service to allow for continual flow of outgoing mail. Following workplace respect policies and communicating information in a fashion that retains working relationships to complete daily production.

ENGLISH
+ Sufficient to communicate effectively with staff
CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILL
+ Ability to assist customers in a positive manner
COMPUTER SKILL
+ Basic computer knowledge to learn and operate necessary software
+ Data entry skills or experience sufficient to input data quickly and accurately
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
+ Ability to transport up to 70 pounds.
+ Ability to climb, bend, reach, carry, and push/pull.
+ Ability to stand continuously for long periods of time.
+ Ability to operate electric and manual pallet jacks, mailing machines, and other equipment necessary to perform job functions.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Knowledge of requirements for various mailing needs
+ Experience with mail processing using a metering machine or the use of a scale to weight and verify the cost of mail
+ Knowledge of postal rates and applications
**Physical Requirements**
PRE-EMPLOYMENT PHYSICAL (CRT TEST REQUIREMENT MINIMUM IS LIGHT-MEDIUM, EX: ABLE TO LIFT 13-21 LBS FREQUENTLY 100-300 REPS AN HOUR).
