Department Summary As the chief communications organization for the University of North Texas, the Division of University Brand Strategy and Communications (UBSC) collaborates with internal and external partners to:
- Advance and protect UNT's institutional identity and reputation.
- Reinforce and grow UNT's brand in graphics, images and words.

Position Overview To prepare and process Standard Mailings (bulk mailings) and Recruiting Mail. To sort and process all classes of mail and keep records of postage transactions. To operate mailing machines postage computer, accounting system, fold and inserter and other equipment as necessary. To function as a relief Recruiting Mail Specialist operating high-speed laser printers and addressing equipment. To data enter postage statement into postal one software and send electronically to the USPS acceptance clerk to verify and validate mailings for submission. To dispatch mail to Downtown Post Office and pick up equipment. To function as back up for Mail Technician (Mail Carrier) and 1st Class Mail Specialist. To perform other duties as assigned. This position will also be responsible for maintaining university branding standards and compliance. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma/GED equivalent and two years' of postal office or mail house services. Can substitute United States Postal Service (USPS) certification for experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of postal practices, methods, and regulations. Skill in basic filing and recordkeeping.
- Skill in evaluating facts or situation to route calls/customers appropriately.
- Skill in courteous communications with public in various communication modes.
- Manual dexterity and physical ability to perform work requiring standing, stooping, lifting, walking, and some weather exposure. Ability to learn a delivery/pickup route.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.
Preferred Qualifications Submitting in-house postal jobs via PostalOne. Required License/Registration/Certifications Valid driver's license. Job Duties:
- Operates accounting computer for reporting postal transactions and generate reports for the USPS for submission with mailings and copies for PDS Mail Services Records.
- Select proper section of postal forms, prepare and calculate for appropriate discounts and enter into the USPS postalone software to deposit at the Denton PO BMEU dock.
- Operates fold and inserting equipment to prepare departments mail for processing. Loads mail bags and trays in APC or on pallets and move to loading dock, via USPS.
- Delivery and Deposit of Mail and pick up of equipment for the standard and recruiting mail areas.
- Maintains accurate records of handling and fold and inserting charges. Assist Mail Specialist in processing of 1st class mail.
- Assist Recruiting Mail Specialist in addressing mail, knowledge of software used for processing and postal requirements.
- Remains current with USPS regulations, requirements and changes.
- Assist Recruiting Mail Specialist in operations of highspeed laser printer and addressing equipment.
- Assist Recruiting Mail Specialist with IBM compatible computers, extracting data furnished by customers and formatting for addressing.
- Receives, counts, checks account number and ensures that mailings meet postal regulations and are Move Update compliant before preparing and processing all mailings.
- Prepares and processes all preprinted permit and metered mail as needed in zip code order, dot, band, tray, bag and tag mailings to meet postal regulations.
- Operates mailing machine, with accounting system to create new accounts and processing different classes of standard mail.
